Happy Sunday! As we officially enter the Thanksgiving season, I am filled with heartfelt gratitude and wanted to share some wonderful news with you. I am beyond words grateful for receiving the most amazing award and recognition—the Golden Heart Award from the San Diego County Dental Society Dental Foundation.

This prestigious and honorable award is given to a dentist in San Diego who has demonstrated significant commitment and results in contributing to the needs of our community through dental work. Recipients are nominated by San Diego County member dentists, and several doctors were nominated this year by our colleagues.

I was deeply touched and truly honored to be given this award this past Saturday evening aboard the USS Midway for my work with trafficking survivors in San Diego and Orange County. I wanted to share this with you because your support makes this possible. I felt like I was accepting it on behalf of all of us, you included!

It has been six years since I felt called to make a difference for women trapped in literal modern-day slavery, and I remain committed to this cause. Your trust in me allows me to continue this important work.

I'm grateful, and just like my hero MLK Jr, I have a dream too!

My dream is to dispel darkness by being a light and to be love in action.Since beginning my work with survivors in 2018, God has used me—my talents, time, and treasure—to transform and touch 187 lives, contributing $313,000 worth of dental treatment from 2018 to 2023.

This all comes with significant sacrifice. We are doing all the work as a gift, and I have dedicated one whole day a month to this mission. Even though many are contributing, we have significant costs for lab work, supplies, and specialists services.
